A method that actually works.. Yay!
I can’t tell you how many times I have Google searched ways of getting rid of blackheads; whilst sitting in front of the mirror looking in disgust at my blackheads and pores. Always trying to find a helpful answer but getting the same results every damn time! Cleansers that claim to remove dirt and blackheads and zero difference afterwards. What a waste of time! Why must companies lie to us and tell us their products are fantastic and really work when they really don’t? HUFF!
Want to know what will actually remove blackheads?
I’ve found the secret. Read on sister..
It’s really quite simple, and you don’t have to spend a penny on useless products. Sometimes a bit of DIY beauty works so much better than bottles and toners!
1. Steam your face
Personally I suggest, getting a towel at the ready. Tying your hair bag and removing any make up. Then boil the kettle and pour the boiling water into a large bowl. Place your face over the bowl and cover your head with a towel for a couple of minutes so the steam can really get into your pores and open them up. Try to stay there without moving for at least a couple of minutes. It can get unbearable after a while and if it’s too much to handle, take a breather, and get back in there. Your face will be lovely and red and sweaty after.. HOT STUFF! 😉
2. Use a blackhead extractor
If you don’t already have one of these, they are SUPER cheap. You can get 3 pieces from Amazon for £1.99 here:
Whilst looking in a mirror, push the extractor tool against your nose or other affected area, and if your pores are fully open, the blackhead will just pop right out! I always go across my nose and chin, pushing slowly against the area, and a bit harder when there is a really noticeable blackhead. Don’t go overboard though. My other half and I often have pamper nights (though he’d never admit it!) and I have started using this tool on him. He tried to do it on his own once and ended up actually breaking blood vessels on his face because he was too forceful. I came home from work and found him with a red nose and a sad puppy eyed face. All I could say was ‘don’t worry dear, just trust me in future!’
3. Close your pores
Once you have removed all you can, splash your face with cold water to close your pores, otherwise dirt will end up back in there and you’ll be back to square one. I always finish off using an exfoliation scrub and a gentle cleanser finished with skin repairing moisturiser. And Voila! See the difference!
I also find that Clean & Clear’s blackhead cleanser, is good for using to smooth my skin and get rid of them horrible bumps you can feel when you have a lot of blackheads. Nose strips are also good for removing blackheads if you have steamed your face before hand, but I suggest also using the blackhead removal tool as you can apply pressure which makes the blackheads pop out. Plus in a hella creepy way it’s reaaaally satisfying to watch..
