Summer is finally here!! And I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with one of my favourite brands – Boohoo! I got the chance to receive and try a bikini and beach cover up of my choice, which is so so lovely!
I have always been a fan of Boohoo as their products really fit in with my style and there is always something on their website that I fall in love with.
Here are the items I chose:
If you fancy buying any of these items for yourself the links are below. (P.S they’re cheaper than you think!)
Boohoo were super sweet to also send me the sunglasses which is a great bonus!
These photos are 100% edit free, although I have been blessed with the sunlight which has improved the appearance of my skin. (I have scars, broken blood vessels and cellulite, believe me! Nobody’s perfect!
I thought sharing this post about Boohoo’s amazing beachwear range, would be a good idea to use this opportunity to talk a bit about body confidence as well.
I’ll be very honest with you. I’m currently really happy with my body, my size and the way I look; but not for the reasons you may think. I am currently a UK size 6-8 which I’m happy with, but let me tell you I wasn’t always this way..
From the young age of 11, I started to suffer with anorexia which I only managed to overcome into my very late teens to early twenties (19-21) It changed my life and I was so depressed for such a long time. I fell around the 5 stone mark in my early teens and used to cover up with larger clothing and padding. It was a horrible time, and anyone who has also suffered with anorexia will be able to relate.
Since the age of 21 I have been a steady weight and I am now around 8 and a half stone, which for me is the heaviest I’ve ever been, but the healthiest weight I have ever been. My GP still encourages me to try and put on weight, but due to the damage I have done to my body over the years with a lack of eating, and unhealthy habits, I do find it difficult to put weight on.
My hip bones really stick out, and when sitting back I can actually rest my elbows on my hip bones. They pop out like an arm rest. Also my collarbones stick out a fair bit and I have been called ‘scary’ and a ‘skeleton’ which of course isn’t the nicest thing you can hear. On the other hand my stomach can bloat out and yes I have rolls too!
Body confidence and loving your body ISN’T JUST ABOUT PLUS SIZED WOMEN! I write that in capitals because I hear a lot more of plus sized women sharing their stories than women who are petite sized; and may be underweight/unhappy with their bodies. I strongly believe now that you should love yourself no matter what your size!
Whether you’re a size 0 or a size 20, YOU ARE GORGEOUS!
Often I’m told that I have a great figure and that I’m lucky I’m so ‘skinny’; and should ‘make the most of it’. As nice a compliment as those words are meant, I often get hurt. I still struggle to this day to put on weight, but have accepted my body and I’m happy.
A big thanks to Boohoo for making me feel and look amazing in your products and boosting my confidence! I feel really ‘body happy’ in this bikini.
Remember to check out Boohoo to see their other awesome products!
