Becoming Your True Self With The #TrueFam Effect

The Influence Of Those Around Us

Are you aware of the effects the people around you actually have on your wellbeing?

Hello #TrueFam!

Yes, I know I’m slacking with my blog post scheduling again.. Big fat SOZ from me! 🙁 However mental health is more important, so I didn’t want to push myself to publish things that I haven’t put a lot of thought into.

I’m excited to share this post with you! I’ve teamed up with my buddies over at True&Co to share the main message in this post which is of course inspiration for women. If you haven’t heard of True&Co before, their brand message is similar to mine which is body positivity and wellbeing; so we thought why not team up? They’ve let me share a self-help fact sheet of theirs, to inspire you lovely lot to become your true self! Which you’ll see in just a moment.

In case you missed it, I wrote a post previously talking all about body confidence. This was sponsored by Boohoo and I was able to receive a bikini from their awesome swimwear range to celebrate body positivity. View it here if you need some inspiration!

Is your community the right one?

Over the past 7 or so years I have made an awful lot of changes to my friendships/relationships for my own sake. I found that in my teens I was surrounded by people who I thought were my friends but in actual fact weren’t supportive or relaxing to be around. This led me to remove a lot of toxic relationships from my life. Unfortunately I’ve also drifted apart from a lot of good friends for no reason whatsoever. It’s such a shame, but I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason. The few friends I have now, are people I would trust my life with and all I need in a friendship is trust and someone who will always be there for you no matter what.

I live with my partner so we literally spend all our time off together. My partner has two absolutely amazing children who are currently 8 and 9 years old and they are like my little mates. I couldn’t ask for a better little family.

When you cut out the toxicity in your life – (System Of A Down now playing in my head) you can concentrate on the people who really matter. The people that will always encourage you, push you to reach your dreams and let you be your true self. This is your #TrueFam.

Be proud of yourself

I’ve noticed how much my confidence has grown lately. I’ve struggled with mental health issues since I was a teen; and I have never fully recovered or felt well enough to be a part of anything. These last few months I can honestly say I’m proud of myself. The things I have overcome and how tough I have been on myself. Tough in the sense that I push myself for the right reasons. Now I have learnt to accept myself. I feel happier and in control of my life.

I’ve been cheeky lately and it feels incredible

Something that I’ve started doing lately which I never thought I would do, is going braless in public. Yep you read that right. Obvs not putting myself on show wearing a see through top or something tight fitted.. just your everyday top/dress. And yes you most probably can see the nips through my clothing, and I could easily invest in some nipple tape, or whatever you call it to hide them. Truth be told I’ve just simply given up caring. *Picture the girl shrugging emoji* To be honest there’s not too much to see anyway #pancaketits.

The feeling of freedom you get from not wearing a bra makes you feel like a superwoman! And I can guarantee at least 75% of you ladies reading this, take your bra off as soon as you get home. Its like the first thing you do, am I right? I sometimes get the giggles when I’m out shopping or in a busy public place when I’m braless and I’m like..

I know something you don’t know.. Ha! The boobs are free!

It’s a weird sense of power, not even mentioning how awesome it feels! I think I’ve been wearing the wrong size bras for a while, as I’m always left with painful/ugly red lines on my side when I take it off. They cut into me like hell.

If you’re unsure of your bra size and (like me) are slightly shy or too embarrassed to go and get a proper bra fitting done.. True&Co have this wicked little quiz on their website where you can answer a few questions about the way your current bra fits you. Also what kind of comfort/style you are looking for. You’ll then be given a list of bras that would be perfect for you. Oh and FYI although I’ve not tried them yet, they look so comfy! Visit their website and take their fit quiz here if you fancy? 🙂

  1. This an amazing post! I totally agree with eliminating toxic friends that don’t serve their purpose for your highest good. I too, don’t wear a bra. I use Niplets to cover my nips when I walk into an air conditioned office. 😄 xx

    1. Thank you Ingrid! Ah that’s a good shout! xo

This is such a lovely post! Toxic friends are the worst and I definitely believe there’s no point in holding onto a friendship for the sake of it. Even if you’ve been friends with someone for years, people change.

  4. I completely agree with you. Over the years I’ve lost a lot of friends, but I’ve also been spared endless drama and negativity. Now, the people around me are all amazing folk who would have my back if I needed them – and vice versa!
I’m definitely going to check out the fit quiz as I know my bras don’t fit right haha – I wish I could go without but my boobs need the support! 🙁

    1. That’s what you need girl! Positive surroundings 🙂 The fit quiz is really good, I’m so glad I found it. Aww I’m the opposite, my little lumps don’t need much support at all 🙁 haha xo

  5. I’m all about surrounding myself with positivity and that means the people as well! Cool post, liked reading!

  6. This is such a great post! That’s awesome that you’ve got your confidence back and feel proud of yourself! Also going braless is INCREDIBLE. it was just recently that I realized it was my bra that was actually giving me anxiety because it was so tight around my chest. I dont like anything around my chest as it can create a panic attack for me, and once I started leaving the house more without a bra I’ve felt 10X better!!!

    1. Thank you so much Kayla! Oh WOW I didn’t even consider that! It’s amazing the difference in how happy you feel when you’e not wearing one, I didn’t even think about how it affects anxiety! Well done for linking the two together and figuring that out. I hope you’ve found a solution that’s right for you! Maybe one without an underwire? xo

  7. I like the TruFam Fact Sheet. I like the tip about being proud of yourself. It gives you a lot more confidence.
